In-home family observation and therapy packages. A rare specialty in private practice that brings real-time support into your actual environment.
Family therapy looks different for every family. For some, the most valuable thing is having a neutral, structured space to talk through what is not working. For others, especially families with younger children, an in home observation offers something that a traditional office setting simply cannot: a real-time look at how your family actually moves through life together, in the moments that matter most.
I work with families across the lifespan. That includes young families navigating the chaos of early parenthood, families with school-age children managing big feelings or behavioral challenges, families with teenagers navigating independence and conflict, and adult families working through longstanding dynamics that have never quite been resolved. The structure of our work together is shaped around what your family actually needs, not a one size fits all model.
For families with younger children, in home observation can offer a uniquely powerful form of support. For older children, teenagers, and adult family members, our sessions may look more like structured family therapy in a traditional setting, with a focus on communication, patterns, and building something that actually works going forward.
Most therapy happens in an office. A family comes in, describes their dynamic, and the therapist works from that description. In home family therapy is different. I come to you, observe your family in the environment where the real moments actually happen, and provide coaching and support grounded in what I see rather than what is reported.
This approach is particularly valuable for families navigating parenting challenges, behavioral concerns with children, co-parenting dynamics, and situations where the patterns at home are hard to describe but easy to see.
In home observation sessions are a core part of these packages and one of the things that makes this work genuinely rare. That said, they are not required. For families where an in home session is not practical or not the right fit, the observation can be replaced with an additional family therapy session at no change in cost. We will talk through what makes the most sense for your family before scheduling anything.
In home family observation therapy is still relatively uncommon in private practice. It requires a therapist who is trained to observe family systems in real time, provide in the moment coaching, and translate what they see into actionable clinical recommendations.
