About Me

Rooted in warmth,
guided by science

Hi, I am Melissa, a licensed therapist based in Hamburg, NY. I work from a simple but deeply held belief: that everyone deserves a space where they feel genuinely understood, and that healing is possible at any stage of life.

I am an individual therapist who leans away from pathologizing the normal complexities of being human. Conflict, grief, relationship struggles, parenting challenges, and moments of feeling lost or overwhelmed are not disorders. They are part of a full life. My work is not about labeling what is wrong with you. It is about understanding what has happened, what you are carrying, and what you need to move forward.

"My role isn't to have all the answers. It is to ask the right questions to help you uncover and understand your own true feelings, patterns, and needs."

I specialize in anxiety and depression, couples and family dynamics, child and adolescent wellbeing, and the profound emotional journey of pregnancy and new parenthood. I draw on evidence-based modalities including CBT and attachment-focused therapy, woven together with genuine warmth and attentiveness to your unique story.

My Approach

How I work with you

Four principles guide every session and every step of our work together.

I
You are the expert on your life

My role is not to tell you what to do. It is to help you access the wisdom and strength you already carry.

II
Evidence meets humanity

I blend proven frameworks with genuine warmth attuned to your experience and your unique story.

III
Healing is not linear

There is no timeline for growth. We move at your pace and honor every step forward, however small.

IV
The relationship is the work

Research shows the therapeutic relationship is the strongest predictor of outcomes. I invest in ours from day one.

"You do not have to be in crisis to deserve support. You just have to be human."

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you might want to
know before reaching out

Do you accept insurance?

For individual therapy, I accept the following insurance plans: Aetna, Aetna Medicare Advantage, Anthem and Anthem EAP, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, Independence Blue Cross, Oscar Health, Oxford, Priority Health, Quest Behavioral Health, UnitedHealthcare, UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage, and Optum Medicaid (New York). Couples therapy, family packages, and specialty services are self-pay. HSA cards and all major credit cards accepted. A superbill can be provided for out-of-network reimbursement.

Do you offer telehealth?

Yes. I offer secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth sessions for clients throughout New York State and Michigan. In-person sessions are available at my Hamburg, NY office.

How much do sessions cost?

Individual and couples therapy is $150 per 53-minute session. Family therapy, grandparent and extended family services, and the mental load packages are priced as complete packages ranging from $800 to $2,200. Full pricing is listed on each service page.

What is a free consultation?

I offer a free 15-minute phone call before any commitment. It is a chance for you to share what is going on, ask questions, and for both of us to make sure we are a good fit. There is no obligation to book after the consultation.

Do you offer in-home sessions?

Yes, and this is one of the things that makes my practice genuinely rare. In-home observation sessions are available as part of family therapy packages throughout the Western New York area. Travel outside of WNY is also possible with client-covered accommodations and travel expenses.

I have never been to therapy before. What should I expect?

The first session is simply a conversation. I want to hear your story, understand what brought you in, and begin to get a sense of what you are hoping for. You do not need to arrive with answers or a clear sense of what you need. That is exactly what we figure out together.

Why are family services offered as packages?

Family therapy, grandparent interventions, and specialty services involve significant preparation, travel, observation, and written reporting that does not fit a standard per-session model. Packages allow me to deliver the full scope of support each family needs.

Are you licensed in Michigan?

Yes. I am licensed as a clinical social worker in both New York State and Michigan, which means I can see telehealth clients in either state.

What if I am not sure which service is right for me?

That is completely fine and very common. The free 15-minute consultation is the perfect place to talk through what is going on and figure out together which service is the right fit.

Do you work with LGBTQIA+ clients?

Absolutely. I am committed to creating a welcoming, affirming space for LGBTQIA+ clients, those in nontraditional relationship structures, and people of all backgrounds, bodies, and family configurations.

Ready to take the first step?

I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation before any commitment. No obligation, no pressure, just a conversation.
